Workshop Description
Moving Forward with Faith
BE A GREATER HEALING FORCE IN OKLAHOMA CITY
Take the first step to mobilize your lay leaders and create a team to address addiction in your own congregational community
Nearly one person in three has a family member who struggles with addiction. Even more face related mental health issues. The faith community can provide awareness, education and recovery support to address stigma and guide individuals and families to needed help.
An informed clergy, supported by trained congregational members has a tremendous opportunity to offer real hope. Faith Partners provides a four-step training process to start a team ministry to address the needs of the congregation, which include: 1) equip the leadership, 2) build congregational support, 3) develop a team, and 4) sustain the team efforts to provide the needed help, hope, and healing.
Join us for Step One: Equipping the Leadership (May 17th)
Participants will learn:
- what prevention and recovery support teams do,
- recognize and address possible barriers,
- identify the role of leadership (clergy and laity),
- identify tools & strategies to build congregational support.
THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS TRAINING & EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS*
* Although we will need $15/person to cover meals, snacks and beverages.
This program is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) and sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS)
